Cathy Ritterbusch, J.D. Named President of Association of Women Lawyers

Chair of Mount Mary College’s Justice Program Will Lead 35th Anniversary Year for AWL

Photo of Cathy RitterbuschMILWAUKEE (July 30, 2009) – Cathy Ritterbusch, Associate Professor and Chair of Mount Mary College’s Justice Department, has been named president of the Association of Women Lawyers (AWL). Founded in 1975, AWL promotes the welfare, interests and professional development of lawyers who are women.

As President, Ritterbusch will oversee AWL’s 35th Anniversary and will concentrate on enhancing mentoring programs for women lawyers as well as identifying opportunities for AWL to assist women lawyers in achieving positions of leadership in their profession.

Ritterbusch previously served in several leadership positions with AWL including Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee, Director of Special Events, Director of Membership, Secretary, Treasurer, and helped create AWL’s Education and Mentoring Initiative.

Ritterbusch received her J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 2000. She left private practice to assume her positions at Mount Mary in 2007. A former member of several Milwaukee Bar Association committees, she currently serves on the State Bar Board of Governors, is a member of the Coalition for Access to Legal Resources, and provides pro bono legal services at the Marquette University Legal Clinic.
