Jubilarian – 2009

Sister Cecil Rickert, SSND
Professed in 1939

Sister Cecil RickertSister Cecil Rickert celebrates 70 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She ministered as a teacher and motherhouse staff member

A meaningful time in my ministry…
Besides many years of teaching all levels of math in high school, swimming every night at Messmer High School (80 laps – my record), I enjoyed starting the computer lab at Notre Dame of Elm Grove (NDEG). My hobbies have been photography, fiddling with the fiddle and piano in retirement, walking and swimming.

It was a privilege for me to teach so many high school students. It is amazing how some of my former students still keep in touch with me after all these years!

What drew you to the SSND Community?
I was drawn to SSND by sisters who taught me at St. Boniface and by my parents who encouraged me.

What would you like people today to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame?
A religious vocation is a great blessing. I’ve had a blest life – and happy! I’m grateful to God for my vocation.

What is your current ministry?
I am retired. My ministry is prayer.
