Jubilarian – 2009
Mary Dora Kipp, SSND
Professed in 1949
Sister Mary Dora Kipp celebrates 60 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She ministered as a teacher, administrator, local leader, caregiver and director of religious education.
A meaningful time in my ministry…
It is really difficult for me to choose one time in my life. When I was professed, I felt I would be a teacher for all of my life. All of the ministries I was involved in have made me the person I am today. I was asked to be a principal, after which I was asked to be the local leader of Visitation at Elm Grove. My dear Mother had a serious stroke and I was privileged to care for her for five years while I taught at Sacred Heart, Marshfield. My last full time ministry was as local leader at Mount Calvary for seven years. Now, I have been the director of religious education (DRE) for eight years. I won the diocesan DRE award two years ago. I couldn’t believe after 58 years that I would receive such an award. I praise and thank God for my talents and I thank the congregation for helping me to develop them.
What drew you to the SSND Community?
I was drawn to SSND by my teachers in school.
What would you like people today to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame?
I have been a member for 60 years and I feel it is the best congregation in the world.
What is your current ministry?
I currently serve as DRE at St. Michael Parish in Hewitt, Wisconsin.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
My heart is only filled with thanksgiving.
