M. Frances Therese Gibson, SSND
Professed in 1939

Sister M. Frances Therese GibsonSister M. Frances Therese Gibson celebrates 70 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She ministered as teacher, coordinator / director and librarian / media specialist.

A meaningful time in my ministry…
For nine years, I taught adult Bible classes – a most meaningful experience. These were afternoon and evening classes for 10 to 18 adults in Logansport. I was blessed to spend four summers studying scripture at St. John’s in Collegeville, Minnesota.

During my mission time in Guam, I found the land snails intriguing – doing the will of God slowly. I enjoyed my ministries with library work, religious education and teaching English at Notre Dame High School in Talafofo, as well as Christmas plays and outreach work in CCD.

Another special time was when I helped to consolidate the libraries into one at Notre Dame of Elm Grove (NDEG).

What drew you to the SSND Community?
I was attracted to the School Sisters of Notre Dame by my grade school teachers.

What would you like people today to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame?
I would like people to know that we are a mission community.

What is your current ministry?
I am retired and serve through my prayers and presence.Photo collage of Sister M. Frances Therese Gibson
