Professed in 1938

Sister Conrad Marie Witkowski celebrates 70 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She has ministered as a teacher, educational administrator, child care provider, community service worker, community leader and volunteer. Sister retired in 2003 and currently ministers through her prayer and presence.

A meaningful time in my ministry…
My time as a missionary in Africa, Ghana and Sierra Leone was a tremendous grace in my life. I taught in secondary school and gave retreats to missionaries from England and Ireland.

What drew you to the SSND Community?
My teachers at St. Mary, Czestochowa and their way of life intrigued me with joy and peace.

What has it meant to you to be a sister through the years?
It has meant a special blessing to me,

What would you like people to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame?
We’re trying to make, even our small part of the world, a haven for peace and love.

What words of encouragement or wisdom would you offer to a woman exploring the possibility of a vocation as a woman religious?
If you have any inclination, keep it in your heart and pray, and you’ll know when the time is right.

What is your current ministry?
Prayer and retirement.
